I'd heard countless times how fabulous the breads from Sun Street Breads were, when they first started appearing at the Kingfield Farmers Market. Before I got a chance to try them out, they went and built a retail location, complete with meals. And I began to hear about how utterly fabulous the breakfasts were (click on that last link only if you're willing to set your mouth to watering).
Driving by one day at lunch time, I thought, hey, there's Sun Street. I could go have breakfast for lunch.
It's a bright, cheerful place, clean and sleek. But my surroundings were less important to me than: which delicious breakfast should I order? Biscuits and gravy? Juicy piggy? Sourdough flapjacks?
And then I saw the sign describing the day's special.
Oh dear lord, that was just heaven on a plate. What we have here--or what I had, sorry--was crepes with black forest ham and Prairie Breeze cheddar, topped with a piquillo pepper and caper relish.
Holy cow.
This is one of those meals that just starts a conflict in your head: eat it all really fast because it's so delicious! vs. Eat it all really slow because it's so delicious!
Bottom line: it was delicious, savory and tangy, yet with a bit of sweetness from the crepe itself, which was perfect. The side salad, with an apple vinaigrette, was a delightful accompaniment.
I left Sun Street a very happy person. A very happy person carrying a bag of blueberry-lemon swirl pastries for the next day's breakfast. Which got the next day off to a very good start.
Someday I'll be back to try to biscuits and gravy. If they're not serving the crepe again.
Note: MPR recently did a fun photo story about Sun Street and its owners. Check it out here.

You must try the biscuit with eggs and mustard greens sometime!
