For this hothothot last weekend of the State Fair, I give you: three wonderfully refreshing ways to cool down.
Hands down, the best bargain at the Fair: an apple cider freeze pop, for $1. Find it in the apple wing of the Agriculture Building.
Lemon-pomegranate sorbet, served in a lemon rind. Find this charmer at the Key Lime Pie Bar, a cart outdoors near the Skyride entrance that's by the Food Building. Also: the coconut sorbet is lovely as well. And served in a halved coconut shell.
Sweet corn ice cream with honey-bacon sauce, found at the Blue Moon Diner.
Regular readers may remember that at the end of every year, I run a series of seasonal photos. As I sat here pondering how to write up my State Fair visit, it occurred to me to do the same thing for the run of the Fair. So, without further ado, the first of a series: Scenes from the State Fair.
Figured since it was Friday, it might as well be food.
Ole's Cannoli. Plain or chocolate, with or without sprinkles. Or, this year, candied bacon. Guess which one I got.
