I don't tend to make a lot of New Year's resolutions because, frankly, I don't keep them. This year, though, I thought maybe I'd give the "joining" bug a rest. No more joining, no KALs, take a break from deadline knitting.
That lasted about as long as it took me to find these KALs: Carrie's Brrr Could You Knit Me a Sweater KAL. Really, how could I resist? I know at least one epileptic, liver-diseased, geriatric dog who could use a sweater.
Then there was this one: the It's NOT a Gift! KAL. I really couldn't resist this one. Because I had already decided that 2007 was going to be all about ME. MEMEMEMEME. Socks for ME. Lace for ME. Whatever I knit for ME.
Which is odd, given that the first two FOs of 2007 are charity items:
The nearly-identical twins, Thing One and Thing Two. Destined for Mother Bear. Well! That's a nice selfless start to the year. Enough of that! Let's move on to the spirit of the knit-for-MEMEMEME KAL:
Besides being all about ME, this year, or at least the early part of the year, is going to be devoted to getting old projects off the needles. Here we have some lovely Opal yarn, given to me by Daisy, with a sock started, oh, I dunno...months ago. I can't say why I put it down. Not out of frustration, and certainly not out of dislike--the yarn is beautiful and fun to knit with. I think it got buried under a mountain of less selfish knitting. As I said, enough of that. Notice I wasn't selfless enough to volunteer to knit these socks for charity. Nope. These are for me.
So I excavated the project, and it's my first for the KAL.
Keep your eyes open for UFOs of exceeding selfishness this year. Well, and a sweater for a dog. Or two. And! I promise! By the end of this week! A completed project that will astound you!
Oh, and go say hello to Carole, who is lovely and charming and picked one of my blog entries for this month's Yarnival! Thanks, Carole! My head is all swollen with fame. Really, something needs to take me down a notch. I imagine an evening with my knitting needles will take care of that.
