I've been sitting here, trying and trying to think of what to say about this book, a finalist in the Tournament of Books. Not much I can say, I think, but what little I have to say is this:
- I think I'm too stupid for this book.
- If not stupid, woefully undereducated regarding philosophy. And Cambridge.
- I didn't get this book. I liked some of the writing, but as a whole? Nope.
- I'm sure I missed something, hence the first point on this list.
If someone gets it, will someone explain it to me? All I got was this meandering tale of Cambridge students and their horribly depressed philosophy professor, whom they've nicknamed Wittgenstein Jr. There is much rambling on about philosophy, much drinking and drugs by the college students, an unexpected romance that doesn't help clarify or provide insight, and an abrupt ending.
And that's all I got.
